   Muahahah wish this old keropok lady probably bopdy also twisted like keropok comes to my house.

   The only experience I have with a keropok lady was in Jurong West when my wife opened the door. Old lady too. She sold keropoks, but the lady from Batam.

   Slowly she began asking for used clothes. Then she went on by saying the clothes my wife wear also nice, can give her or not. Until I came out and chased her away. Never to be seen again. hehehehe

   I was with a group of friends, and mind you these guys are professionals and senior executives. One of them told me, the old lady visited his mum’s place yesterday.

   She was at the window, but did not knock. Only thing was, the smell was very strong, some kind of odour. And the dressing also very haphazard. She just looked into the house and moved on.

   His mom is now freaking scared shit.

    heard from my cousin in woodlands that the “makcik was from there n had gone over to tampines … too.. what im wondering is that could it be some batam ppl that come to singapore n start all these bad things?? i have seen a few batam like kids n women wandering in tampines selling keropok at my void deck especially on Friday… but none of my family open the door…

    I wanna told u guys that this old lady tat selling keropok is real!!!at first when i receive a email bout tis old lady selling keropok,i ignore it cos for me it is all rumors but now i believe it cos it already happen to my aunty and uncle.it happen last 2 days ago,at 10:45pm i received a sms from my lil brother.this is wat my bro send me(sal,nenek jual keropok da activate siol!now at hougang,cik ali house da kene siol!don’t call house anything call my hp.)this is wat my bro send me and i was shock and tell myself tat my bro is joking and i show it to my hubby.he then ask me to call my bro hp and ask my mum bout it and so i did.i ask my mum is it true wat adek telling me?and my mum say yes.i freak out!!i end the call and tell my hubby bout it and it is true!!afew minutes later my mum call me and tell me now uma cik zara plak kene!!i have alot of relative in hougang and can say about 65% of it staying hougang.i became worried for them and now its already been 2days i hv not went to my mum place and i dun even dare to meet my gf at hougang.the next day i ask my mum bout it again.i ask my mum hw does the old lady look like?she said that my aunt and uncle cant see her face cos she was bending due to bongkok and they told my mum tat the old lady knock the door so hard,like the policeman but much harder and say “Nk beli keropok?”.tat old lady was at the door for about 10mins then she’s gone.how can an old lady knock the door so hard like tat!!so guys beware n dont open your doors to anyone.unless they inform u tat they are coming to ur place and before u open the doors please peek at the hole first to check whose outside.this is nomore rumors for me but it is up to u guys to decide.

    i encounter the same thing. not same but similar. i was just came bck fm my late supper with my bf..we were tired so we didnt talked when we were taking the lift. i felt something on my back. like heavy back pain.i ignore. cuz i tot i was just tired.so after my bf sent me hm,i just went to the toilet to pee n i forgot to wash my feet or shower cuz i was damn tired. so, i went to bed.. when i almost fell asleep,suddenly i could feel sumthing not right.. i was disturb by this old woman,she was waving as if she was calling me.. i could see a blurrish figure but i’m sure its was a old woman.. i was so scared that i force mysev to wake up n ran to my mum room n sleep.. the next day,i told my mum,she said that the figure i saw was a old woman,this thing they love to follow ppl who love to came hm late night.. i believe cuz i experience it like no other..

    Dear ladies and gents,

    i would like share something here.. the story abt the nenek is true.. it happened to my mum. i stay with my mum at marine parade. it happened on monday, 20 july 2009 at 6pm. my mum was at home doing the laundry and our door was closed but windows slightly opened.
    suddenly my mum heard loud knocks on our door. very very very loud knocks and mum peeped thru the door viewer.. she saw the nenek.. very haphazard dresssing and slightly bongkok as if she carrying something heavy on her back. then it strucked my mum this could be the much-talked nenek jual keropok. so wat my mum did was to calm herself down and recited the Ayatul Qursi. she went to the kitchen and took a handful of salt (it seemed this kinda “thing” afraid of salt..not sure why). that nenek kept knocking and knocking for good 5 mins. generally, a normal sales person if kept knocking and no one answered, will just go away rite. but she didnt and kept knocking so hard that my door can break!
    eventually my mum opened the door. the nenek was staring at my mum and said “smekom!! beli keropok!”. my mum glared at her and with full force said “allahu akbar” and threw the handful of salt to that nenek. and that nenek was so shocked and ran so fast!! mind you i live on the 15th floor.. she ran down the stairs from 15th floor to 1st floor like a flash… my mum actually went to the kitchen and saw her dash across our carpark to the next blk.. she’s a nenek and my god her speed like lightning.. if a normal person who had just been thrown salt or anything at her/him, would be angry and confront my mum. but this nenek got so frightened at the word allahu akbar that she ran off like tat..
    when my mum told me this incident, i was scared shit.. coz “it” came to my place. i still am a bit shaken but my mum assured me that she has recited some prayers.
    this nenek has wat-looked-like a canvas bag to us on her back but actually it’s that “kakak” sitting on her back. my mum saw it. so frens, just be careful of such things all rite.. =)

    well deathscyne…according to my mum, this nenek wears like normal normal makcik wear to pasar.. u know those $20 type of clothes pants and tops - i dunno wat is it called.. and she wear tudung.. very typical makcik dressing just that it’s haphazard.. well she can change her style everyday.. but that how she was when she came to my place..
    and just like you..since it was encountered and told by my mum, i trusted her as well… she doesnt share things like that with me either.. so a lie or not.. well up to u guys to decide.. i merely sharing… cheers!

    Fact is, we can’t believe nor to believe… we normally be neutral. We can’t judge whoever story, but we always take note and observe.

    The reported was not wearing a scarf. Our last records was she actually with “nenek tu da tua, tapi tak pakai tudung, dia pakai kain sarong batik dgn baju putih with cetak bunga2 kecik..” which translate, she’s old, not wearing a scarf, sarong batik, white blouse with small flower prints.

    IN block 514 woodlands , my neighbour was watching television.The time is about 7.00 pm.The makcik who selling the keropok came to her house.The makcik who selling keropok say ‘KUM KUM KUM’ .My neighbour see the door hole.And she see the makcik , bring black colour plastic bag.MY neighbour was scared , she decided to not open the door. About 10-12min the makcik knock the door hardly. My neighbour was scared , she just ignore the makcik outside of her house. IN a few second , the makcik stop knocking . About 7.30+pm my neighbour see the door hole the makcik still there . Some people say the makcik face half have half don’t have . In about 7.50 the makcik gone already .

    Although I very much like to indulge myself in these stories my standing are much more practical. I would rather hear gossips about Michael Jackson. The very least, those gossips about MJ are probably true.

    Perhaps you will hear stories about ‘Makcik’ 4 times in your life time. Thats once in every 20 years if you live up till 80. I would be lucky if I met her in my lifetime but since her dress and appearance and the neighbourhood she appeared in seems to change from one storyteller to the next, I probably wouldnt even recognize her. Since ‘Makcik’ doesnt really have a fashion sense, she probably still wears the same old clothes hence the haphazardness. Kumkum drove a car, a blue or red proton saga (colours change with every storyteller), Makcik may have her car repossessed and therefore forced trying to earn a living selling keropok ‘crackers’. And since no one really wants to snack on crackers, she’s force to engage a supernatural agent. My heart goes out to her… You must have been a desperate old lady. It would have been easier selling crackers at a corner of the train station. But I guess you dont have the licence.

    I wonder why ‘Makcik’ will not sell to any other people but Malays. Why she only circulate among the Malay communities considering that crackers are widely consumed by any race regardless of language and religion. She couldnt be racist, is she?

    And please dont tell me she just change to selling yakult now, cos I just chase a Nyonya selling yakult. Shit I’m doomed now.

    With all this stories that are told, I wonder why is it that the people who encountered it dun call the cops since the makcik is known to loiter outside the house for a long period of time. Of cos, cops may not arrive on time some times but in some instances that they do, perhaps the cops would be able to check to see if the makcik is a person or a supernatural being. Apologies to cops out there but we taxpayers dun pay taxes for nothing.

    Also, I also noticed that only the malays tend to encounter all this neneks and makciks beings. Dunno how true this is but a malay friend once told me that it is becos malays are more sensitive to such things or either that, those malay-prototype supernatural beings tend to target malays. Dun flame me on this cos I’m not stating it myself, just sharing what I was told which I also duno if my source even knows what she is saying in the first place.

    To me, i felt that the story of Makcik Keropok or some say Nenek Keropok is real. But not on the paranormal side of the story. Because some had link this story to the ghostly or paranormal side where the makcik is said to be carrying or ‘menggendong’ a pontianak at her back. And that’s why people says that she is always seen to be bending down or ‘membongkok’.

    She could be just be a normal person who’s trying hard to sell her crackers. Below is one story to support this.

    One of the story that i heard from somewhere is that the old lady will ask the victim if she was alone at home. And when the victim replied ‘YES’, the old lady will say, “Then who is that person walking into your room.” Feeling scared, the victim will invite the old lady in, to keep her company till her parents returns. Feeling thankful, the victim will gladly buy the cracker from the old lady.

    It is either maybe of some specific cases where the buyer had bought the cracker and found it be be stale or spoilt. Feeling cheated, he or she will spread this rumour of this makcik.

    This chain SMSes succeeded to spread like wild fire is because it plays on peoples fear. And also due to the ‘play safe’ syndrom where people felt it doesn’t hurt to be extra caution, by fowarding the received SMS.

    And as for me, i’m not affected by this because i know it’s just a rumour and the originality of the source of the story is unknown and not from any reliable sources. And for me, i’ve never encountered it before although i’m living in Tampinese area.

    Oh….and the only way to stop spreading this rumour and fear to others, is by NOT forwarding your SMSes. And also check your front door peep hole before opening and never allow anyone to enter your home when alone. All this is some part of home safety one should learnt.

    Personally, I do not believe this story. It must have been conjured about an attention seeker with nothing else better to do. And no matter how many times I heard someone claiming it to be true because it happen to her friend’s cousin’s daughter-in-law’s postman, it always seems too far fetched for my liking. Malays are more sensitive to supernatural? Try wild imagination.

    And I think the media agrees with me. BH just covered the story today and as expected, not one from the hundreds of victims who claims to have experience this ordeal volunteered to come forth and get interviewed by the paper. Shocking isnt it?

    Let me enlighten you that after this publication int he papers, the ‘Makcik’ story will slow dissipate into thin air. Less people will talk about her, less people will read about her and slowly, surely the story ends. Kumkum story in the 1990s ends the same way.

    Lets’s see what else comes along our way 10,15 or 20 years from now.

    I think there is this particular someone who is uber bored with life and decided to revive the story of ‘Kum Kum’. Who supposedly ran away to JB, driving Kanchil and eloped with a young man. Well at least that’s the version I last heard while I was in secondary school. And that was eons ago.
    Look the thing is, there could be a woman who is genuinely selling keropok or hot goreng pisang and nasi lemak, trying to make ends meet during the recession. Some jealous freakazoid among her community just decided to ruin her reputation and make up such stories.
    How about investigation other paranormal stuffs like are ants magical creatures? How come they suddenly appear out of nowhere even though you know you have thoroughly clean your house? Hmmm..yes people, there are some truths out there. Makcik Keropok just went out of fashion..HELLO!

    I was with Raz, our equipment specialist, regarding this issue. The Kumkum event took place was in 1999 during my recruit training, and after 10 years, the Nenek Keropok event. Seems coincidence, I may just conclude this as a fake rumor but there are too many stories indicating they saw it. Each story might be of a different Keropok person, but there always a turn of event where she disappears, she ran screaming in terror and talking to someone behind her when there no one.

    So what was there to support our research till now, nothing relevant yet.
    Is she a rumor, possibly not.
    Maybe all story related to a different person, possibly yes.
    What can I explain about the weirdness the acted? Mental?
    What can I explain about she disappearing from inside the buyer house all of a sudden? I have not idea yet.

    A makcik came to my house, selling keropok and asked for a re-fill of warm water to quench her thirst. Yes, she knocked repeatedly on my door loudly as if she wanted to break the door. I OPENED THE DOOR and there she is. A makcik selling keropok with a huge bag which she dragged effortlessly. It looked heavy and I am amazed by her strength. She looked slightly hunch backed. A pity. My mum asked her where she was from and she said she made the trip from my house at Balestier from Jurong. She was selling the keropok and mum decide to buy and they cost 3 for $10. I took the keropoks, handed the money and close the door. She moved on to the next few rows of houses. I ate it. Yes, it was slightly stale but still edible. I am still alive and well while I typed this. Did I encounter a makcik keropok ? Yes. Was she scary or carrying a “Pretty Lady” on her back ? No. Am I possesed ? No. And, for your information readers … She came TWICE. Rejected by the first time cause I was broke and the second time we bought cause mum opened the door. She wore a long sleeve outfit and a pair of pants carrying a sling bag. Her outfit changes the first and second time I saw her. And she came during dusk or maghrib as the muslims call it. STOP BEING IGNORANT, PEOPLE. Some ordinary people are trying to make a living even if it means by selling stuffs door to door. Don’t disturb their rice bowls. However, if you want to be careful, look through the peep hole.

    Seriously, i kept hearing stories about things making people afraid. Somehow i wasn’t feeling afraid at all. I’m pretty pissed actually. I don’t know if this is a kind of business shit that will make people buy more keropok from this makcik or they got nothing better to do.

    In islam, to be afraid about this “things” is certainly forbidden. This can be considered “shirk” in islamic context. I’m not trying to preach religion here but just voicing out my opinion. To whom it may applies, we should fear the Almighty than to fear this kind of bullshit.

    I too encounter the “Makcik” like SynntaClaus at my parent house at Pasir Ris. Yeah the keropok is 3 for $10. Yeah she carried load of keropok. Our house door always open as we are socialist family hahaha. I bought the keropok out of sympathy to the makcik. Ask my wife to choose 3 kind of different keropok. But end up not eating it as i got lot of other keropok hanging laying around all over in my mom kitchen (i think if my mom wanna sell all the keropok, she too can become makcik keropok) . I guess the boys that almost everyday come to my home studio ate it. Nothing happen, even if it stale, they just eat it anyway with coffee and cigi. We all should start keeping our door open like the kampong days so if really there is makcik keropok trying to be funny to one of the neighbors, the rest of the neighbors sure can see an help to keropok the makcik keropok.

Any people of other races who encounter this makcik keropok survived and lives to tell the tale that she is just a harmless makcik ?     Well, I have never encountered any ghostly experiences, neither does my family (from generations and generations never, my mother side anyways).

    But my friend says it happened to her cousin. The lady knocks very lightly on your door. When my friend came to check under the door, she saw no shadow, but just a bag of kerepok. She freaked out and ignored it. But it countinued for half an hour. The lady knocks with one finger, not with your knuckles.

    She says the kerepok is lemau.

    As for why it happens to Malay, I’m guessing its because Shaiytan has found a new way of trying to interfere our hold of faith, making us trying to forget Allah or preventing us to salaat.

    Anyways, my stepfather is Australian and not Muslim.

    Just yesterday my mom told me after hearing from her fren at a funeral that all these things are true..I dun realli know if its this keropok lady but she stated that its a malay lady who comes knocking at ppls doors.And she told me that her fren said BEDOK area is heavily affected.I dun really know how much its true..Just passing the msg around..Well the part which freaked me out was that my mom’s fren said that the malay lady will be talking to ya then suddenly she will be behind you..meaning she wud be in ya house w/o walking pass you.and she wud take away cash,jewellery and valuable items…

    Haha. I missed Suria’s advertisement last Friday, 21 August 2009, where Suhaimi Yusuff acted as Raja and at the same time Makcik Keropok.
    Suhaimi opened the door and says, “eh! makcik keropok! Nak kuih?”
    Then the makcik was also Suhaimi, bringing a pontianak black thing on his shoulder. She then ate the kuih and atlast, she bought all of Raja’s kuih.

    And there you have it, Raja Kuih from 1st lady/Golden Chance retail outlet, if you know what i mean

    LOLS. It is true the thing started from Woodlands, and it did sells keropok. But the tombstone part, I’m not quite sure about it. >,< Andand, it did spread to clementi and then a few other estates as it was chasen out of it by the residents. I think this is the story :/

    Hi, a few months a ago, I encountered something similar, only it wasn’t a nenek, just a really smiley lady!

    She was at my doorstep at around 9pm I think. She said she was from Batam, and she had Batam keropok(maybe thats why people say they’re stale). I had heard of the story before this, and I figured, hell I better buy if she actually has an invisible friend behind her. But I wasn’t fearful, just being practical lol. They cost 3 for $10, and there wasn’t much to choose from. I would say the Kerepok wasn’t stale, but it wasn’t the best tasting ones either. Not worth that price, that’s for sure!

    All I can say is that this ghost rumuor is a pretty good marketing ploy! Props to the Batamites. I’m chinese by the way - if that adds to anything.
